The practice may use text messaging as a "special category" (under GDPR regulations) to contact patients regarding specific health issues such as test results or other information relating to their health.

This is only for some tests ordered by the practice. Any hospital or clinic test results will be dealt with by the service who requested the test.

Please ensure you act on any advice or recommendations in the message. For example, a message may read "You test results are available. Please make an appointment for review".

YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A TEXT MESSAGE ABOUT ALL TEST RESULTS

You should always contact the practice to check your test results if you have not received any communication within 7 days for blood tests and 2 weeks for x-rays or scans.

Our preferred method of contacting the practice is using econsult. This allows us to give you a full copy of your results and a message interpreting these results.

USE YOUR PHONE PRIVACY SETTINGS

We recommend considering optimising your phone security to prevent others from seeing any messages sent to you. These include:

  • Enable lock protection (pin or touch or face id)
  • Disable notifications which pop up on lock screens or connected tablets or computers.
  • If you have a shared mobile number (e.g. with family members) you should consider if you wish to opt out. Messages will not identify who the result relates to.

YOU CAN OPT OUT OF RECEIVING TEXT MESSAGES AT ANYTIME BY CONTACTING THE PRACTICE ON 0141 800 0840.

PLEASE REFER TO OUR FULL GDPR/DATA PROTECTION POLICY FOR FURTHER INFORMATION (ITEM 18 IN PANEL ON RIGHT SIDE OF PAGE).
